00:00 - 00:04

Nendomile ndi mulukoba.

I had said in a village.

00:04 - 00:07

Lukoba luno.

This village.

00:07 - 00:13

Lwamenyanga babandu bali balayi bulosi sabwabechangamo ta.

There used to live good people who were not involved in witchraft.

00:13 - 00:24

Bele omulosi bamwanikhila abulafu bamukambila, nenakhayile nali we sikhasi baloma bali okhonaka lukoba lwefwe ta, bamuona.

They would call out anyone involved in witchcraft publicly and when one resists and turns out to be a woman, she would be chased out of the village not to destroy it.

00:24 - 00:28

Nelukoba luno sisindu sialindanga musilo.

What used to protect this village at night.

00:28 - 00:38

Sisialindanga musilo omubukusu niye eikina sisiene, akhola kimisinga.

The thing that a Bukusu depended on for security at night was creating of beehives.

00:38 - 00:49

Buli silibwa karakho kimisinga, kimisinga, kimisinga kienjukhi.

Each gate had a beehive so when the enemies come to attack.

00:49 - 00:56

Belukoba babolanila batimaka bacha bafunula kimisinga ekio kiosi.

The villagers would communicate and open all the beehives.

00:56 - 01:02

Kimisinga kino nga bafunula bario enjukhi yatamukha yarakikha khukhupa basiku.

The bees get out after the beehives have been opened and start biting the enemies.

01:02 - 01:05

Yapa basiku.

Bite the enemies.

01:05 - 01:11

Nebafutara bali enjukhi ekhwira, enjukhi yaonianga bandu yaba security.

They would ran for their lives because the bess were regarded as the best security.

01:11 - 01:21

Ye mulukoba olwolwo nebandu bamenya basalanamo becha bakucha bele baba bakekhe nio bandu nga nabafuma sibala sino.

In that village, that is when people lived long and sired. They multiplied and filled the world.

01:21 - 01:28

Basalwa mulukoba, basi nakamao omusakhakhulu busa sanieniela nasendakho ta.

They were born in that village. I have to end there because I am an old man to prolong.
