Nenyile khuloma elubeka we lukano.

I wanted to speak in regard to a story.

Lukano luno lulakhusomia bindu fulani kene fafanue, kene mbakalemo.

This story teaches us some things which I will explain and touch on.

Lukano luno luli lwomusakhulu owaba ne lukoba lwewe mungo mwewe nende lulwibulo lwewe nomulosi.

This story is about an old man who had his fortified village, his home, his lineage, and his wife.

Mala omusakhulu yuno karura mungo mwewe acha khuima chikhu balanganga bali bikenga.

Then this old man left his home and went in search of logs for firewood.

Acha khubiima keche bare anano amaika aao sikila bibiriti sebiabechangao ta.

He went in search of them and brought them so that they would be put at fireplace because there were no matchboxes.

Bikenga bino bikila sakhabwane kumulilo lundi ta anarao ariario.

These logs would make him never light fire again as he puts them there.

Mala omusakhulu yuno nga kola kumusiru kwaba kumukali balanganga bali kumubimbi.

And when this old man came, there was a bush that was so large it was called a dense forest.

Mala omusakhulu yuno kaba mubwenomwo kanyola kumurongoro kumubofu kabisa mala kachaka khurema.

This old man was in there and found a very big tree, then he started cutting it down [felling].

Nga karema, karema oli kola akari ne kundu kufwakhanyila eii oli alola khane omusiku wewe, khale balanganga bali kamang’u.

As he cut and cut and when he reached the middle, something [monstrous] emerged there and when he looked it was his enemy. Long ago they were called monsters.

Bakelao bali kamanani.

Later they were called ogres.

Mala aba ling’u lino nga liecha liola khumusakhulu yuno ne omusakhulu yuno akhola khangu.

When this monster came and reached this old man, he acted very fast.

Kanina khangu kabisa, kanina khumurongoro okwokwo mungaki mala, ling’u lino nga lialolelela selimunyola ta mala liatila eshoka.

He climbed to the top of the tree very fast and when this monster discovered that it could not reach him, it held an axe.

Embalu nio omusakhulu yuno kaba nalio mala liachaka khurema eshoka.

The machete which this man had and it [ogre] began to cut with an axe.

Nge liachaka khurema lirio ne aba omusakhulu yuno karamo kumwenya.

As it started cutting like that, the old man began a song.

Kemba ali,

He sang:

Chandia mbwa change kutubi namulikho,

Woe unto me my dogs Kutubi and Mulikho,

aseno mbwa change eiiiiiii,

foolish are my dogs eiiiii,

Chandia mbwa change kutubi namulikho,

Woe unto me my dogs Kutubi and Mulikho

aseno mbwa change eeeeeee, Chandia mbwa change kutubi namulikho.

foolish are my dogs eeeee, Woe unto me my dogs Kutubi and Mulikho

Chimbwa chino nge chamala na chiulila yaba kabaya chimbwa chewe chibili mala chamala nachiulila ndala bali kutubi ekindi bali namulekhwa.

He had kept two dogs and when these dogs heard and then when they heard him, one called Kutubi the other called Namulekhwa.

Mala nge chaulila ne chimbwa chino chatima mala chaonia omusakhulu yuno mala kakobola engo ne chimwa chewe chino.

When they heard, these dogs ran and rescued [saved] this old man and he returned home with his dogs.

Nono abwenao malilisia ne ndoma bali noli nende lukoba namwe mungo namwe abundu osi osi kenyekhana waba nende omulindi nende omukai.

Therefore I want to finish by saying if you have a fortified village or home or any other place, it is advisable to have a protector/defender and a caretaker.

Chimbwa echo chakaya lundi chalinda omusakhulu oyoyo mubulamu bwewe mala kaonesebwa.

Those dogs protected and took care of that old man in his life and he was rescued.
