Speaker: Judith Muhuyi
Ekholo yange ndimu.
My clan is.
Lisina liange bali Judith Naliaka Muuyi.
My name is Judith Naliaka Muuyi.
Ese samwene omukiyabi Omunelima Omumashiembe owalia nalikenda.
I am from the Bakiyabi, the Nelima's and the Bamashiembe clans who ate while walking.
Ndekha mubasonge Bamwalie Baliche.
I am married in the Basonge and Bamwalie clan who swears.
Nesese khembendelea khulomakho khusiasa.
I am continuing talking about politics.
Sindu nisye mbolile nenjukha khusiasa mbola nandi i kumusambwa kwefwe kwa Muliro Makinia Wamalwa Kijana.
The thing I said as I come to politics, I want to say our tradition by Muliro son of Makinia, Wamalwa Kijana.
Bana Babukusu khemubolela lundi namubolela mumakhelebende, mukhalekha sisiama tawe.
Bukusu people, I am telling you this and I told you very early, don't leave the party.
Mukhalekha bubwami bwe Babukusu bwatiba tawe.
Don't let the Bukusu leadership to get lost.
Ndikhendoma nendila nembola nandi akhaba kumukhung’ano kwabeleo kwa Wamalwa Kijana mala bana Babukusu beche banyole mbo sikombe sili musilindwa omwomwo banyala bebasia sina?
I am speaking as I cry by saying that, on the issue that was there about Wamalwa Kijana, the Bukusu people had to find the cup, it was in that grave, what will they think?
Akhaba Wamalwa Kijana yaba enjofu senyala yetala khakombe khakwa?
If Wamalwa Kijana was an elephant, it will kick the cup down.
Ese khenjukha nembola nandi nga nembolile omusakhulu Wangamati omusakhulu omukhulu omukambisi khawinyukhe asi babana Babukusu batibile.
I am coming back to say, as I said the elder Wangamati, the old man and teacher, wake up Bukusu people that are lost.
Omusakhulu Dominic khowinyukhe asi babana befwe Babukusu batibile mala obaambanie.
Elder Dominic, stand up and bring peace among our Bukusu children, they are lost.
Mala ndalilanga khunyole omwana Omubukusu keche wakana fwesi khubonakho buruki.
I am crying that we get our Bukusu child to come for us to also find leadership.
Nomwana wendebe niyo khulaechanga bubwami nekhukalukhila khase ne khase omwana bali Simiyu Eseli.
The child that we are giving power to repeatedly, the child called Simiyu Eseli.
Omwana owefwe mubolela nandi khakeme imara baba babana Babukusu khabayeng’ana mala kema yeng’ene kabola ali.
I will tell our child to stand strong, Bukusu's children were not organized, so he stood alone and said that.
“Masinde Muliro Makinia Wamalwa Kijana sendekha natibia bubwami bwenobyu tawe.”
Because of people like Masinde Muliro, son of Makinia, and Wamalwa Kijana, I cannot allow myself to lose this leadership.
Mala nga ne ndoma ndio nga kakhakakho ario alikhaendelea sa khubela kumusambwa kukwenywe nokhelaile ta notiba.
As I say this, since he tried he will continue with that because if you don't practice your tradition you will get lost.
Luswa lukhanani kheluamba babana befwe khubela mbo batibisie chingila chabwe.
Curses are catching up with our children because they have lost their ways.
Babaa bubwami nabonaka, babaa bubwami nebaleka siko se bibwami, babaa bubwami ne baleka chinju che sisiama.
They are given power which they ignore, they look down on the origin of power and party houses.
Khesaba nandi sisikhasio ndi bana Babukusu nemusima arunari khembola nandi mwinyukhe busa asi mala mulange kumukhung’ano chimbeka chosi mala khwiche khwikhale asi khukachule busa khukhabeana khubole khuli khwatilile khubwami tawe.
I am begging as a gathering, Bukusu people please, today I am saying that, you should wake up and call a meeting including everyone for us to sit down and talk, we should not lie to each other that we have experienced the power.
Khwikhale asi khukachule mala khubone sina silananianga enda ya Babukusu.
We should sit down and talk for us to find out what is disturbing the Bukusu family.
Ne bifuno bili bitaru bilananianga enda ya Babukusu.
There are three issues disturbing the Bukusu family.
Khukhienyela khekhunananianga enda ya Babukusu.
Wanting it all is destroying the Bukusu family.
Khulekha khumanya oli bubwami buno buli bubwasio tawe bubwami buli bubwasie.
Not knowing that leadership come in turns.
Ewe norukirekho wola aundu mala walekha bubwami sekali bali aba bandu bakhulobile tawe.
When you rule to a point and stop leading, it doesn't mean that people have rejected you.
Ewe olarukakho wola aundu okhoya waria oli okundi yesi okhoruka aba ali nge ewe.
When you rule and reach a point, you should give respect to another ruler who is just like you.
Yesi kama mubandu nge ewe.
He/she also came from people like you.
Nono khendila babana Baluhya, babana Babukusu enda ya mulembe ndi khemutiba.
So I am crying/begging Luhya children, Bukusu children of Mulembe, you are getting lost.
Khukalukhe alala mala khuaye bubwami.
Let us come together and get power.
Fwesi Wele enda elimo lulwakha lakini Wele Khakaba akabanga.
People are different but God the giver knows how to share.
Kakabile sibala simufu papa Khakaba.
He has shared the whole world, God the giver.
Efwe sekhusabanga Wele kweluchi ta fwesi khusabanga Wele.
We don't pray to the river god, we also pray to God.
Ne Wele abele kolile aundu bali kenya khukabakho enda yomubukusu bubwami ne bachaka khutongoyana.
God had reached a point that He wanted to share power to a Bukusu family, they started being confused.
Khutongoyana nikhwo ndila bana Babukusu ndi khakhwikhale asi mala khubolane mala khurusie omundu mulala mala ache akhukholele niko aba khwenya.
The confusion is what I complain about my Bukusu people, let us sit down and produce one person to go and represent us.
Enda ino nga neyebula eriri mbao omulayi mbao omubi ta.
This womb gave birth to no good or bad child.
Akhaba barukakho mala bekungunia bacha bakhauka bali efwe khwayibabiyila ta.
Even those who ruled and left should not think that we hate them.
Efwe khulenyanga sa bali babe bareke mala bayukhe alala khukholele alala ekasi.
We just want them to be attentive and come back for us to work together.
Nefwe nafwe nekhukholela alala ekasi Wele salakhwibilila ta.
If we work together, God will not forget about us.
Wele Khakaba luno nafasi yino nga khakaba abele kolile khusitere emusia yekhukhuwakho bubwami.
God the giver as He shares the chances, He had reached the end of the nail to give power to us.
Sayi nge khekhuloma khuri bana Babukusu semusangala mbo khwarusise khakhefwe khosi khakhangarani khaliyo khekhakenda, khekhukhengelakho bitere.
Now as we speak, Bukusu people should rejoice because we have produced our own who is strong and we are proud for electing him.
Ne khekhukhengelakho bitere khenyekhana ne khucha khukhaa esimbo ne kumukasa khunekelesie kabisa mukhalekha tawe.
We should encourage him when we shall be presenting our traditional leadership blessings to him.
Ne nga khucha khukhaelesia kumukasa, khucha khumuwelesia endebe bana Babukusu befwe khwenekelesie busa, bunyala bwakhururakho.
We should talk sense into him when we meet and never stop, our Bukusu people, if we play around we might lose the chance.
Wenekelesile busa atiti.
We have a small chance.
Nono nisio khemusaba nandi olabona oyila chikhafu eluchi aba eyoo yosi elimo khecha khunywa.
So what I am asking from you, if you take cows to drink from the river, it means your cow is among them.
Nefwe khwayile chikhafu bana Babukusu khwayile khwalwile, khwaya khuyila eluchi eyefwe mbamo, khwaya khuyila eluchi, eyefwe mbamo.
As Bukusus we are tired of grazing and taking the cows to the river to drink, ours is not among them, we graze and take them to the river without ours.
Aba naloma nandi ne basalanga babami bano basalanga barie?
I wondered how those who gave birth to the leaders do it.
Ne banunia babami abano banunianga maturu si?
And what kind of breasts do they use to breastfeed these leaders?
Namwe bali ne kamaturu kataru?
Or they have three breasts?
Oli nicha ndolelela, khane bikholwa biefwe bibiene.
When I come to look at it, it's our deeds which is the reason.
Nono sayi ngemalilisia ndi wakana nje nywekho busa nga khasitiringi enje eyi mbola nandi bubwami fwabwene khulabwonakanga khubela bikholwa byomubukusu.
As I am finishing this up, maybe I would just take strong tea out there, I am saying that we are destroying power ourselves because of a Bukusu person's deeds.
Enda ya Maina seyabakho eri ta.
The Maina family was not like this.
Ekileko eyino yamila waena namwe yamile waena mumwana Mubukusu ekila ne yonaka bubwami eino?
Where did this ego in the Bukusu child come from, it is destroying leadership.
Yaba khale abele owasio okhukhilile khubola khuli chinjala chili chirano chili khwiwe khumukhono sechilekhananga ta.
Long ago we used to believe the finger nails on a person were never the same however mature your one might be.
Ne sina sikila omwana Mubukusu ne kenya busa bandu belekhane.
But why is that a Bukusu child wants people to be the same.
Bubwami buno oli nga omusinde ne kama sietosi.
This leadership you are like a boy from the river to be circumcised traditionally.
Elinga omukhebi nakheba, kubechanga kumusambwa bana Babukusu.
It is like how the circumciser circumcises, it is usually a traditional spirit act.
Kumusambwa nikwo omundu kenya kelaye kwe bubwami khakhumulekhele kelaye.
When one wants to be a leader because of the spirit, let us give him/her the opportunity.
Nomundu nacha khuruka mala owefwe niyo enda ya Muliro Makinia khekhumulekhule ache aruke, khukhapingamo ta.
When our person is from Muliro, son of Makinia, let us allow him/her to go and rule our children. We should not interfere with it.
Ne bana befwe sai nge ese treasurer omulamba wesisiama khendila ndi sembikhanga esilingi ta lakini mbikhanga kamakhuwa mbolelekho bandu.
Right now me as the party treasure, I am saying that I don't keep a shilling but I keep words to tell people.
Lekha khung’ale busa mala khusale omwana.
Let us just decide, so that we give birth to a leader.
Mala omwami niye khung’ala khusale, khusale mulomo, khusale sa omwami kumusi kara.
The should produce a leader after doing enough research.
Khukhekisakisa nekhusala omwami ta.
We should not keep hiding when we give birth to a leader.
Khusale sa omwami mala enyanga emufwekho.
We should give birth to a leader, the sun should shine on him.
Bona khasoleli kheteile kharurire khekhukhengelakho kamatere, khukhonaka kumukasa kwefwe ta.
The strong man is ready, we are banking our hopes in him, we should not destroy our tradition.
Chilomo chilimo meru ne senatililekho sititi ta, khenja khuliakho, kanenjukhe mubolelekho lilindi liba ne lilio.
Conversations can be salivating, I am going to eat something and come back to tell you something else I will have.
Musikale nenako.
I leave you with that.
Wele amulinde.
May God protect you.
