Yabao khale, khwabechanga nende khakhandu bali Wanakhamuna, Esuku ndala Wanakhamuna khaba nende enjala engali sana mala sakhaba ne siakhulia ta.
A long time ago, we had someone called the squirrel, one day the squirrel was so hungry and he didn't have food.
Wanakhamuna khano khalosia ne Chikhafu, khalosia nende Enjofu ne wanakhamuna khabola khali, "Wanakhafu ata kimebele kioo eki sekili kiminulu tawe."
The squirrel talked to the cows and the elephant and said "Cow, your milk is not sweet."
Khali ta, ata nowenya wiyamine khamakho nywekho obone, omanye, Wanakhamuna khaba khandu khakesi mala lundi khabacha.
He said, if you want to believe, milk yourself and let me taste you. Wanakhamuna (squirrel) was someone very clever and tricky.
Khubirira kamakesi.
Through his brains.
Khubirira khumakesi kakho, ekhafu yaamua khukhama mala khanywa kamabele khekura.
Through his brains, the cow decided to milk itself and the squirrel drunk until he was satisfied.
Aba lukano lwase lulisa lulwimbi lurio mala lwawelele abwenao.
My story is that short and that is the end.
Lukano lulondakho, luli lwa Wanakhamuna ne chisang'i chichindi che mumusiru.
The story that comes next is for the Squirrel and other wild animals.
Kumumu kwaba khusibala khuno kumukali mala kamechi katenya musibala siosi, chisang'i chaloma chili efwe khukhola khuriena ne khunyole kamechi?
There was drought in this world and water was lost in whole world, the animals said that what can we do so that we can get water?
Nabaa khasang'i bali Wanakhamuna khecha.
A small animal called the squirrel came.
Khabolela chisang'i chino chibusie, ne khuloma khali khurure busa bandu boosi, babofu nga Wananjofu bano.
And said to the animals to come together and also said that let's all step out, heaviest ones like Wananjofu (elephant).
Ne bikele busa khufutule kamechi.
With the legs to drill the water.
Mala Wanakhamuna khane kharakho Wananjofu omubofu khukhila boosi.
And the squirrel assigned the elephant who is the heaviest amongst all.
Ne Wananjofu kupaasi ne sikele siewe esio ne lufumbi lwong'ene lwinyokha, bali ewe rurayo, ekhisi yelao lufumbi lwong'ene busa, buli esang'i yapao yakhaka buli engila ta.
And the elephant hit down with his leg and only dust rose, he was asked to step aside for an antelope to try only dust, every animal hit the ground, trying every way possible unsuccessfully.
Lakini nikho enga khecha busa oli khakhakakho khari nekhabona kamechi kafutukha.
But when the squirrel (Wanakhamuna) stepped in, by just trying he saw water come out.
Ne Wananjofu aloma ali ewe kenelome oli niwe ofutule kamechi kano ewe rurayo ese omubofu khupe.
And the elephant said, you will say that you are the one who drilled this water stay aside and let me who is the heaviest to hit.
Kenebalome bali Wanakhamuna busa khapile kharie kamechi khatubula ne Wananjofu ta.
They will say that, how did the squirrel drill water successfully and not the elephant.
Kwakhamwata eyo nikwo kwelao, kamatosi ako kooma, lundi lufumbi lwanja khurura ne chisang'i chichasie chiloma chili, lurayo efwe Wanakhamuna kape kamechi, abele khwenya khukabona mala ewe okile katibe.
He threw him away to step in, the mud dried and dust started to come out and his fellow animals said, step aside for the squirrel to hit the water, we were almost seeing it and you want it to be lost.
Wanakhamuna enga khelao, ne kamechi karundukha.
When the squirrel stepped back, water came out.
Kamechi ako enga karundukha ne chisang'i chirekukha khucha khwaya nono cheikine chili khulanywa kamechi.
When that water came out, the animals left to go and graze, knowing that they will drink water.
Ne kusang'i kukundi kwabao ne kwicha busa kwaa kwakhalile ne kunywa ne kamechi ne kutumbula, kwamala ne kwesingakho.
But there was another animal which came, drank water, and made it dirty, finished and bathed.
Oli chisang'i chino chikalukha kamechi chana lundi katumbukhile, ne kireba olindile kili, "Wanakhisi kamechi katumbukhile karie?"
When the other animals came back, the same water was dirty and they asked the one who was in charge that, "antelope, how did the water get dirty?"
Wanakhisi ali, "Wananjofu wikholanga busa.
The antelope replied saying, "Elephant, you always masquarade.
Kusang'i kwichile ano nakwo kwachowa khukhila ata ewe.
One animal came here much heavier than you.
Nikwo kukwakhama khunywa kamechi kano mala kwatumbula.
It is him who has drunk this water and made it dirty.
Ne Wananjofu busia aloma ta lekha samwene nono luno niche endole.
The elephant said now let me be in charge today and see.
Kusang'i chenya oli chisamule chachile ne chisang'i kwecha lundi kwelongile busa kuloba kwererekho ne lulwiika ne kubolela Wananjofu kuli khupa lulwiika namwe enywe kamechi.
After the animals had left, the same animal came again, molded and modified the soil, with a horn on it and told the elephant that, "I hit you with the horn or you allow me to drink water."
Wananjofu kulola lulwiika olwo kuli luno lunjira ne kuloma khuli, khonywe kamechi okhakhupa lulwiika ta.
The elephant on seing that horn said, this one can kill me and said, drink water, don't hit me with the horn.
Ne khasang'i akho khanywa kamechi.
And that animal drank water.
Khanywa kharekukha.
He drank and left.
Oli echo lundi chiicha kamechi katumbukhile lundi sio.
When the rest of the animals came, the water was dirtier this time around.
Ne Wanakhamuna omwene aloma ali ta, luno samwene khendindekho busa kamechi kano mbone sang'i sina yino yachowa khukhila efwe yino.
And the squirrel said, no! let me be in charge of this water today so that I see which is this animal that is heavier than all of us.
Ne khakhocha kimisukuni, khafuna kimisala ne khekhala amechi.
And he made small pieces of branches, broke trees, and sat at the water point.
Khayuni chana khakobola lundi, khelongile liloba khafutukhile busa khelongilekho lulwiika lubofu lukhali luwiika twa ne khecha busa kwimba kuli "mboo, mboo, khunywa amachi ke babami."
The same bird came again moulded with soil, moulded itself a very huge horn and came singing that "today I am gonna drink the leader's water."
Kuli "mboo mboo enja khunywa amachi ka bakambi."
Again "I am going to drink the leader's water."
Ne kwicha kwakanana nende Wanakhamuna.
And he came and met with the squirrel.
Kwabolelela Wanakhamuna kuli nywa kamechi namwe khupe lulwiika.
He told the squirrel that, "I drink the water or I hit you with the horn."
Wanakhamuna khasilile busa, lundi kuli nywa kamechi namwe khupa lulwiika.
The squirrel was just quiet, again he said, "I drink the water or I hit you with the horn."
Wanakhamuna khasilile busa enga kwaloma lwakhataru busa, ne Wanakhamuna khenyokha nende kumusukuni ne khapa kuyuni kuno pu!
The squirrel was just quiet when he said it for the third time and the squirrel stood up with one piece of branch and hit that bird!
Enga kapa busa ne kuloba kukhukhumukha nabona khayuni khama mukuloba okwo khapurukha.
When he hit it, the soil disintegrated and a small bird came from the moulded soil, flying away.
Kharekukha.
It left.
Khane khayuni busa khakholanga kamaya kakho ne khecha khatumbula kamechi.
So it was just a small bird which does its tricks and comes to make the water dirty.
Oli chisang'i echindi chilota chicha kamechi kakwalalile busa ne chisima Wanakhamuna ne chiendelea nono khunywa kamechi kamakwalafu kabisa.
When the other animals came, they found very clean water and said thank you to the squirrel and they continued to drink very clean water.
Aba ese lukano lwase lwawelele abwenao lurio.
Now that is the end of my story.
Murio.
Thank you.
