Long time ago there was one old man who came to my home and asked me where my father went.

I told him "He took the cattle far so I can’t, but let me give you a seat to sit on and wait for him."
Ali esese senikhala ta ali ndenyanga busa papa naba nemaya ndamo kumwenya.
He said, “I can’t sit, I just want your father. I've decide to sing a song."
Papa papa, omukeni ali engo papa namuwa endebe kaloba, namuwa ekindi kaloba, kenya ya papa ye bakuuka.
[Singing] "Father, father, a visitor is at home, father, I gave him a seat that he rejected, I gave him another one and he rejected it too. He wants one of the ancestors' seats."
Naba amaya kekhala ne maayi naye kaba kachile khuenja lanji, nono nga khwekhala khwekhala naba amaya acha papa sekamaya nakola ta.
Then he decided to sit. My mother had gone to look for lunch, so we sat then and he decided to go, but my father never arrived.
Naba maayi kecha, nareba ali nanu wichile ano?
So my mother came and asked who had come home.

I said a visitor came and wanted father. She told me to go and call my siblings to come so that they get food. I decided to go and call my siblings.
Nga kalikha busuma oli aloma ali Nekesa?
As she prepared ugali, she said to me, “Nekesa?"
Sorerakho eningilo eyo khwalola chinyenyi kama chasikale namwe chawele naba endima ndera eningilo eyo.
"Bring that cooking pot and see if the vegetables remain or are finished." Then I ran and brought that pot.

Kaenja kaenja kanyola, nga kecha katekha, katekha kamala oli kalikha busuma khwalia busa bulayi.
She looked and found some. When she came back, she cooked. We ate ugali after she served it.
Chinyenyi charama muningilo kaloma ali chinyenyi chino omundu akhatilakho.
She warned all of us not to touch the remaining vegetables in the cooking pot.
Ali ulatilakho busa chinyenyi chino, esuku yaluno serabira ta.
"Whoever touches these vegetables, this day will not pass."

Everyone kept quiet. When they looked in the pot, the vegetables were not there.

They went to a very big ocean. They stood there as the mother tied the rope from both ends of the ocean (river). She said that whoever usually eats her vegetables should confess before they start crossing the river.
Buli mundu kekana naba abolela babana bewe ali nendaramo kumwenya kuno buli mundu alemba kumwenya kuno natuma luluchi olakama enje niye ndamanya ndi khane niye olichanga chi-chinyenyi change.
Everyone denied. She then told her children, "When I sing this song, everyone will also sing. We will cross the river and whoever stays outside will be the one who has been eating my vegetables."
Naba aramo ali.
She started singing.
Nendi niiise olile chiisi, mukoye katukha engwe munyanja oyo wakwanza kabira.

Nendi niiise olile chiisi, mukoye katukha engwe munyanja wekhane kalondakho.
[Singing] "If it was me who ate the vegetables, the rope should split for me to fall into the river." The fourth one followed.

[Singing] "If it was me who ate the vegetables, the rope should split for me to fall into the river," the last one sang in a low voice. Singing with a low voice, "If it was me who ate the vegetables, the rope should split," She didn't manage to cross the river, she fell in the river.
Mala aba maayi kamanya ali omwana wase Nasimiyu yuno khane niye olichanga chinyenyi ese nirana neniba kimika kie babandu nembenja omwana sabonakho akako ta kekhala busa alia chunyenyi nese khembenja.

Nono kimienieko sekili kimima kimilayi ta.
"That is not good behavior."
Naba abolela babana bewe ali samwabone olichanga chinyenyi.
She told her children that they had seen whoever eats the vegetables.
Nono khekhusomwa ndi nokholile sindu yiyama oli nise okholile mala khumanye kamakosa kalio ili khung’one khukhila wakholile sindu wakosile nokhowikana oli sendi ese ta alafu mwishowe.
"Now I want to teach you that you should confess when you do something wrong so you know the mistake and can find a solution instead of denying and being found out at the end."
Na alafu lumalilisi nowingila mwiloo wabone nono, nekhasimile nendoma ndi neli ano okholangakho kamakosa yibula namwe nobona oli oumiangakho abundu fulani eleseliakho babasio khukhila osile busa oli chinyinga chimalilisi oli wicha onyolekha mumakhako kano nobona oli khoangamia nono mbele busa nenako.
"And in the end, you will enter into a hole, you see." I will appreciate to say if you normally make mistakes or when you see others making mistakes, you should confess. If you suffer from some illness, you should share that information with your friends. If you keep quiet and the last day you are found out, in these temptations, you realize you are dying. I only had that.
Wele amulinde.
God protect you.
